If your organization uses TFS to manage the development of your product, you can integrate with Receptive to track your progress and the features you need to work on. You could, for example, have features that reach a certain status in Receptive move on to your list of tasks in TFS.
Our TFS integration works through Zapier. You can create an account on Zapier here.
Firstly you’ll need to create a Receptive API key in your Settings >> Integrate page.
Then, you can start by logging in to Zapier and clicking "Make A Zap".
Choose "Receptive" as the trigger app.
Select "Feature Status Changed" as the trigger.
Then select your Receptive account.
You want the zap to trigger when a request in Receptive is set to "Building".
You can select that status using the drop-down menu.
Zapier will then ask you to test out the trigger.
Once the test has been carried out successfully, it's time to choose the action.
Search for "Visual Studio Team Services" and select it as the action app.
Then choose "Create Work Item" as the action to be triggered.
At this point you'll be asked to connect your TFS account to Zapier.
You can then fill in the details that will be associated with the Work Item created through Zapier.
You can edit:
- And other optional fields.
For 'Project' you can select from a drop-down menu of your current projects.
For 'Type' you can choose from a drop-down menu of possible types. For this use case you should use "Feature".
For 'Title' you can use the title from the Receptive feature that triggers the zap. Use the drop-down menu to do this.
Zapier will then test your zap.
If successful, you can switch it on and it'll start working right away.
Every time a Receptive feature changes status to "Building", it will trigger the zap to create a new Work Item in TFS.
