Why is this important?
Receptive allows you to have a seat at the table when decisions are being made on the products you use and stay in the loop when your feedback is reviewed and updated. It also allows you to:
- Get timely feedback on requests from product decision makers
- Gain greater insight into upcoming releases
- Increase your impact on feature development
In this guide:
What is Receptive?
Receptive is a place for you to submit product feedback to your software supplier.
Feedback can be anything from formatting tweaks to integrations, or ideas you’ve had that would make the software work better for you and your company.
Check your vendor's feedback policy for more information on what kind of feedback is most useful.
How do I use Receptive?
You’ll have a link/button in your software called “Submit feedback” or similar. Click it to jump into Receptive.
Alternatively, your software supplier may have enabled the embedded widget. This means that you will see a tab on the right-hand side of the product labelled, "Submit a request".
When you click on that, it will expand the dashboard out so you can use it in the ways detailed below. You can still access the main dashboard by clicking the expand icon on the top-right corner.
Submitting feedback
Once you’ve reached the Receptive dashboard, click “Make A Suggestion”:
To submit a new request, all you need is a title:
Of course, the more information you can provide the more likely it is your suggestion will be noticed.
In some cases, you'll have the option to upload files to help make your suggestion clearer. Please note that there is a size limit of 1GB for any files uploaded.
Tip: Try explaining why your request would be helpful. This will go a long way for the team reviewing your request.
Viewing and prioritizing your requests
If you’ve voted for more than one request, you’ll see your requests at the top of your dashboard:
You’ll want to adjust the sliding bars to reflect your priorities. The more weight you give to your most urgent or important requests, the higher it will show up in your software supplier’s reports.
Voting on other requests
If you see a request you’d like updates on, just click the box next to it, “I want this”, and you’ll be emailed whenever a new comment is added or the status is changed.
See the status of any request
Just use the search box in the upper right hand corner of your Receptive dashboard to find requests by keyword:
At a glance you can see the status of each request:
Or click on the title to see more details regarding that request:
View upcoming releases (optional)
Your software supplier may choose to show a roadmap, which will be listed in the left-hand navigation.
Click the roadmap link to see a graphical representation of what your software supplier has planned for the future.
Alternatively, you can view a list of requests that are planned or currently in the process of being built. That can be found in the "Releases" section, also accessible on the left-hand navigation.
Email Notifications
By default, you'll receive email notifications when:
- A request you've submitted is updated or commented on.
- A request you've voted on is updated or commented on.
- An engagement email is sent to you, asking for your feedback.
You can manage your email preferences by clicking the links in the footer of any email you receive from Receptive.
- Clicking "Unsubscribe From This List" will remove your email address completely and you will no longer receive any emails from Receptive.
- Clicking "Manage Email Preferences" will send you to the preferences page where you can select which emails you wish to receive and which you don't.
Changing my Language
To change the language that Receptive is displayed in, click your avatar in the top-left corner.
You can then select the language you'd like from the drop-down menu in the "Language" section.
